Candidate Bio

Explain any relevant committee or leadership experience you have that will benefit the ICRM in the advancement of its vision and mission.
One of the most rewarding parts of my career has been bringing people together to solve problems, share knowledge, and grow professionally. I currently lead a thought leadership team focused on developing resources that promote RIM best practices, professional development, and the thoughtful use of emerging technologies. I’ve also served on professional development and hiring committees and contributed to RIM initiatives across both public and private sector organizations. In addition, I actively mentor CRA and CRM candidates, helping them navigate the certification process and build confidence along the way. These experiences have strengthened my ability to align governance, compliance, and communication with strategic goals.

What is your leadership background in terms of managing organizational growth and related challenges and opportunities?
In a previous role as Director of Archives and Records, I had the opportunity to lead several initiatives that supported both day-to-day operations and long-term growth. I helped implement organization-wide data governance and records management practices, often working across departments to build buy-in and adapt to shifting priorities. I also developed compliance and risk mitigation strategies during litigation and disaster recovery, which taught me the importance of flexibility, communication, and proactive planning. These experiences gave me a strong foundation in navigating change and identifying practical, scalable solutions. I believe these are essential skills for supporting growth in any organization, including the ICRM.

What experience do you have in building high-functioning work teams and stakeholder relationships at your workplace and/or with association boards?
I believe high-functioning teams start with clarity, trust, and shared purpose. In a previous role, I led a disaster response and recovery effort for a nonprofit organization following Hurricane Ida. I brought together a team of staff, volunteers, and contractors, many of whom had never worked together before, and supported them in staying focused, adaptable, and connected to the broader mission. I also kept stakeholders engaged and informed throughout the process. It was one of the most challenging professional experiences I’ve faced, and it reinforced how effective a well-aligned team can be when people feel supported and understand the goals. I carry that same mindset into every collaborative effort and would bring it to my work with the ICRM by contributing to a team that values transparency, shared goals, and the diverse expertise of its members.

What would you do to advance the future of the ICRM?
To support the continued growth of the ICRM, I would focus on building on the strong foundation already in place. It is often best to refine what works rather than reinvent it. That includes updating policies, simplifying the appeals process, and promoting transparency in how decisions are made. My goal is to make ICRM policies, the certification experience, and membership as clear and supportive as possible for both current and future records managers.
