The Virginia Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators (VAGARA) hosts an annual conference featuring nationally-known and local speakers who present on topics of interest to the records and information professionals of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The one-and-a-half day conference includes a keynote address from the Librarian of Virginia (the Library of Virginia is the archival repository of the Commonwealth and the agency charged with records retention for the state). Other sessions include fan favorite, John Mancini, who will discuss “Rethinking Virginia’s Civil War Past” and the ethical issues encountered by records managers and archivists. Other topics include regulatory records retention, information governance, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Microsoft 365, moving from paper to digital, and outreach strategies and programs at the Library of Virginia.
