ICRM Booth – e-Records Conference 2024, Austin, Texas - December 2024

ICRM Booth – e-Records Conference 2024, Austin, Texas
By Vickie Stephens

Every year the Texas e-Records Conference, sponsored by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission and Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR), bring together Texas state and local government and institutions of higher education for a day full of extraordinary speakers and information professionals. Attendance of state and local employees was approximately 300 with approximately 33 vendors.

Kevin Waldrup, CRM, IGP and I had the pleasure of representing the ICRM at the e-Records Conference. Throughout the day, we met and spoke to many people that had little to no knowledge of the ICRM. Several people were interested in knowing more about the certification process and what it takes to become a Certified Records Manager (CRM). What I found interesting is most people did not know a “Certification” in records and information management could be an asset to them professionally and personally – now and in the future (retirement).

Sharing our knowledge and our individual CRM experiences with those wanting to further their career in the information and records management profession was very rewarding. I would highly recommend volunteering to support the ICRM at various events. Besides being educational, it is a lot of fun!!!
